New book on law in the digital age
SHAPE researcher Bettina Lemann has published the book "Digitalisering af retten og det praktiske juridiske arbejde" (in English: "Digitization of the Law and Practical Legal Work").
The book Digitalisering af retten og det praktiske juridiske arbejde (“Digitization of the Law and Practical Legal Work”) provides an introduction to what digitization entails and the consequences it has for both the courts and practical legal work. It focuses on key and fundamental issues that affect lawyers across different areas of law – from public authorities to the legal profession and the courts.
Each chapter addresses how digitization impacts legal certainty within the given area. Data processing and personal data protection are recurring themes, with particular emphasis on ensuring data quality. The book also highlights the broader societal consequences of digitization – including the risk of marginalizing certain groups of citizens, the need for digital inclusion, and the associated democratic challenges.
The book is the result of a collaboration between a number of contributors – both leading legal researchers and practitioners with experience from the legal profession, corporate law, and the public sector.
